Pickle Robot Company, a developer of AI-driven robotic systems for automated truck unloading, has announced that it has successfully raised $50 million in Series B funding.
Participating investors include Teradyne Robotics Ventures, Toyota Ventures, Ranpak, Third Kind Venture Capital, One Madison Group, Hyperplane, Catapult Ventures, and others.
In addition, the company reports that in third quarter 2024, six customers placed orders for more than 30 production robots, all of which are currently scheduled for deployment in the first half of 2025.
The orders include pilot conversions, expansions from existing customers, and adoption by new customers. The additional funding will accelerate the development of new robot features and support the growth of Pickle Robot’s commercial teams to enter new markets and geographies, addressing the needs of global robotic truck unloading operations.
“Pickle Robot customers are experiencing the value of Physical AI applied to a common logistics process that challenges thousands of operations every day,” said AJ Meyer, CEO and Founder of Pickle Robot. “The new funding and our strategic customer relationships enable Pickle to chart the future of supply chain robotics, rapidly expand our core product capabilities, and grow our business to deliver tremendous customer value now and in the future.”
Pickle Robot applies its Physical AI technology to one of the most labor-intensive and physically demanding tasks in logistics: truck unloading. By integrating advanced vision systems with generative AI foundation models trained on millions of data points from real logistics and warehouse operations, the company’s robotic hardware platform delivers physical performance that meets or exceeds human-scale efficiency.
“Pickle is hitting its strides delivering innovation, development, commercial traction, and customer satisfaction. The company is building groundbreaking technology while executing on essential recurring parts of a successful business like field service and manufacturing management,” said Omar Asali, Pickle board member and CEO of Ranpak. “It is a testament to the strong team at Pickle that world-class customers want to work with them and that investors are excited about their trajectory.”
Pickle Robot aims to establish itself as a market leader in AI-enabled robotic solutions for the supply chain. Since the summer of 2023, Pickle Unload Systems have been operating at production capacity in distribution centers for multiple customers. These robotic systems work alongside warehouse staff to make unloading non-palletized goods from trucks and containers safer, less physically demanding, and more efficient.
The company’s mission is to automate inbound and outbound processes at 1 million warehouse doors within the next 10 years. To date, Pickle’s AI-driven robotic systems have unloaded more than 10 million pounds of merchandise from import containers and domestic floor-loaded trailers. These items include footwear, apparel, power tools, toys, kitchenware, packaging materials, small appliances, and other general merchandise. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its product capabilities to handle parcel-type freight as part of its future roadmap.
