Delta has introduced its new Cognibot Kit, a modular add-on designed to equip the company’s D-Bot series collaborative robots (cobots) with advanced cognitive capabilities. With features such as voice command recognition, 3D machine vision, and multimodal AI interaction, the Cognibot Kit aims to improve cobot intelligence, safety, and adaptability in a wide range of industrial automation environments.

The announcement builds on the momentum of Delta’s award-winning D-Bot platform, first introduced at Hannover Messe 2024. The ecosystem now features full integration with leading digital twin platforms, further expanding its use cases in smart manufacturing.
Michael Mayer-Rosa, Senior Director, Industrial Automation Business Group Delta Electronics EMEA and Global Head of Intelligent Robot Systems (IRS), Delta Electronics, note, “Through integration with leading digital-twin platform technology, we have bridged the gap between our D-Bot series cobots and the field of AI, essentially enhancing our cobots’ ‘brain’. With the Cognibot Kit, we are now taking the next step by providing our cobots with ‘eyes’ and ‘ears.’ We are also significantly expanding our Intelligent Robot Systems team at our Stuttgart site to better serve our customers.”
Engineered for installation directly onto the robot flange, the Cognibot Kit is powered by Delta’s proprietary Power AI Box and enables human-robot collaboration with enhanced sensor and AI-driven responsiveness. Key features include:
-
360° Microphone Array: Enables precise voice command recognition and intuitive control.
-
3D Vision Sensor: Supports accurate object recognition and gesture control.
-
Integrated Speaker: Provides acoustic feedback for user interaction.
-
Power AI Box: Manages multimodal AI interaction for seamless automation.
-
Wi-Fi Connectivity: Allows for wireless data exchange and maximum flexibility.
At Hannover Messe, Delta demonstrated how these capabilities enhance cobot performance across real-world applications, for improved positioning precision, system adaptability, and overall productivity in production, logistics, and service settings.
“The Cognibot Kit makes cognitive robotics accessible to companies of all sizes,” explained Michael Mayer-Rosa. “This is particularly beneficial for countries like Germany, where medium-sized enterprises are prevalent and face labor shortages. The ease of integration into existing environments was a key focus, enabling smaller companies to leverage the efficiency and flexibility of automation in production, logistics, and service at a cost-effective solution.”
