The new S-Family of small industrial robots from Comau combine flexibility, repeatability, and accuracy.

The robots are expressly designed for applications where accuracy, repeatability, and speed are absolute requirements, such as assembly, arc welding, handling, food and beverage, and e-mobility.

Featuring Comau’s signature red housing and compact and robust construction, the first two high-speed robot models within the S-Family offer payload capacities of 13 kg and 18 kg, respectively, with a 1700 mm reach and repeatability of ±0,03mm. Their compact sizes allow them to be used within smaller spaces and tighter areas, including those where traditional industrial robots have difficulty reaching. The S-Family can be mounted on the floor, wall, or ceiling to optimize space without sacrificing performance.

Comau S-Family robots also offer complete protection from elements such as water, dust, and other contaminants. Their best-in-class IP68 hollow-wrist design houses electrical and auxiliary cabling internally, providing greater agility and minimizing damage risk. S-Family industry robots have also been tested and certified in accordance with Fraunhofer procedures, offering enhanced production quality and performance with reduced energy consumption and costs.

Additionally, the S-Family are the only known six-axis articulating industrial robots on the market offering optional fully integrated arc and gigabit dressings. These dressings eliminate layout constraints, simplify assembly and installation, ensure faster response times, and significantly reduce cable kinking, breakage, and maintenance costs.

Nicole Clement, Comau’s Chief Business Unit Leader for Advanced Automation Solutions, states, “Comau’s new S-Family of small, high-speed robots combines efficiency and technical excellence with the features and functionality required for effective deployment within new markets and dedicated application areas. Our commitment to making automation easier to install and use, especially within non-automotive markets where automation is growing fast, is yet another way Comau is bringing the power of automation to an increasingly diverse sector of industries and applications.”
