Alstef Group has announced plans for a new 13,000-square-meter industrial facility for its Alstef Mobile Robotics subsidiary at the La Janais Industrial Excellence Hub in Chartres-de-Bretagne, within the Rennes metropolitan area of France. Scheduled for delivery in September 2027, the new site will consolidate activities currently split between Mordelles and Pacé and support production capacity targeting 300 Automated Guided Vehicles annually by 2027.

Alstef Group plans a new 13,000-square-meter facility in the Rennes metropolitan area to consolidate Alstef Mobile Robotics operations and support AGV production of up to 300 units annually by 2027.
The facility will include approximately 11,000 square meters of workshop space and 2,000 square meters of offices. Bringing the two existing operations together is intended to improve coordination between production, engineering and support teams while providing additional capacity for continued growth in AGV and AMR production. Construction company Legendre is supporting delivery of the project, with Linovim serving as advisor.
The new site will also provide industrial resources for deployment of a new generation of mobile robots developed through the company’s “Road to 2026” R&D program. Alstef Mobile Robotics’ broader technology roadmap incorporates AI as the company continues development of AGV and AMR systems for industrial, logistics and airport applications. The facility is also being designed around lower-carbon construction and reduced operating energy use. Plans include extensive use of structural timber, PassivHaus certification and building features intended to support future RE2020 requirements. The new layout will also place greater emphasis on ergonomics, internal logistics and coordination between departments as production volumes increase.
“This is a major milestone for our company: tangible recognition of the work accomplished, and above all a key driver to keep growing, further industrialise our operations, and prepare for the future under the best possible conditions,” said Olivier Imbert, Managing Director of Alstef Mobile Robotics.
Alstef Mobile Robotics traces its roots to 1975, when the business was founded as Bretagne Automatisme, and developed its first AGV in 1983. The company later operated as BA Systèmes before becoming Alstef Mobile Robotics in 2023 following its integration into Alstef Group. Today, more than 2,000 of its mobile robots are operating worldwide.
