About Featured Expert: Plus One Robotics
Plus One Robotics designs, develops and manufactures vision-guided robotic systems for parcel handling and warehouse automation. Its work focuses on induction, depalletizing and palletizing applications where robots must identify, grasp and move packages that vary in size, shape, orientation, surface condition and presentation. The company combines three-dimensional vision, artificial intelligence and supervised autonomy to support high-volume logistics and fulfillment operations without requiring every parcel or pallet arrangement to be known in advance.
The company’s perception software gives industrial robots the visual information needed to identify objects, select grasp points and direct motion within changing work environments. This capability is particularly important in parcel and mixed-case handling, where packages may arrive randomly oriented, partially concealed or stacked alongside items with varying dimensions and materials. Rather than relying solely on fixed programming, the system evaluates each scene and generates the robot instructions needed for the next pick and placement.

A defining part of the company’s approach is supervised autonomy. When the vision system encounters an object or arrangement that it cannot confidently resolve, the robot can request remote assistance through the company’s Yonder platform. A human operator is then able to review the scene, provide guidance and return the robotic system to autonomous operation. This model allows one remote operator to support multiple robots simultaneously, while reserving human judgment for exceptions that remain difficult for automated perception. It also provides a practical alternative to either stopping the line or requiring a person to remain stationed beside each robotic cell.
The company also develops turnkey work cells and works with robot, gripper and systems-integration partners to support deployment within existing warehouse and distribution environments. Its systems are used by logistics, e-commerce, postal, retail and third-party fulfillment operations across multiple countries. Data gathered from deployed robots is used to support the continued development of the platform’s perception models, exception-handling tools and system controls.
