About Featured Expert: Mujin
Mujin designs and develops intelligent robotics software and control technologies for manufacturing, logistics and warehouse automation. Its work centers on MujinOS, a robotics operating system that combines perception, motion planning, digital-twin technology, real-time control and system orchestration within a common automation platform. The company applies this architecture across robotic picking, palletizing, depalletizing, mixed-case handling, trailer unloading and fleet coordination, while supporting integration with multiple robot brands and related warehouse equipment.

The same control architecture can be applied across individual robotic cells or wider material-handling workflows. In manufacturing, MujinOS supports applications such as bin picking, case handling and coordination among robots, conveyors and automated guided vehicles. In warehouse and distribution environments, the platform is used for mixed-SKU palletizing and depalletizing, piece picking, order fulfillment and unloading. By managing these functions through a common software layer, Mujin can connect robots and peripheral equipment that would otherwise require separate programming and controls.
This systems-level approach is also central to the company’s work with integrators and end users. MujinOS is designed to reduce dependence on robot-specific programming while giving operators and integrators access to configuration, simulation and monitoring tools within the same platform. Digital-twin validation allows motion, layout changes and operating sequences to be evaluated before deployment, while real-time coordination supports continued adjustment once the system is in production. The platform can also be used to manage changes in SKU mix, packaging formats, line balance and equipment availability without rebuilding the full automation architecture around each new requirement.
Mujin was founded in Tokyo in 2011. It has since expanded its operations across Japan, the United States, Europe and China. Its U.S. headquarters is located in Suwanee, Georgia. The company’s expertise spans industrial robotics, machine intelligence, three-dimensional vision, digital twins, autonomous motion planning, controls engineering and warehouse orchestration.
