About Featured Expert: Agility Robotics
Agility Robotics designs, develops and manufactures humanoid robotic systems for industrial, logistics and distribution environments. Its work centers on Digit, a bipedal mobile-manipulation robot designed to operate within facilities built for people, including warehouses and manufacturing plants, where stairs, narrow aisles, uneven transitions and existing material-handling equipment can limit more conventional automation. The company combines legged mobility, manipulation, perception, controls, artificial intelligence and fleet-management software within a common industrial robotics platform.

The company’s work extends beyond the robot itself. Agility Arc provides the cloud-based workflow and fleet-management layer used to deploy, monitor and coordinate Digit systems. The platform supports facility mapping, workflow configuration, task assignment, robot-status monitoring and operational metrics, while connecting Digit with warehouse-management, warehouse-execution and manufacturing-execution systems. It can also coordinate activity between Digit and other forms of automation, helping bridge material movement across equipment that may otherwise operate as separate systems.
Commercial deployment and manufacturing at scale form another major part of Agility Robotics’ development strategy. Digit is operating within manufacturing, distribution and logistics environments, including a commercial deployment with GXO and commercial programs involving Schaeffler, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and Mercado Libre. Data gathered through these programs supports continued development in robot navigation, manipulation, safety, task learning and system reliability. The company also operates RoboFab in Salem, Oregon, a full-scale humanoid-robot manufacturing facility designed for modular production, with an annual capacity of up to 10,000 units. This investment connects robotics research and field deployment with the manufacturing, supply-chain and service infrastructure required for wider commercial use.
Founded in 2015 through work originating at Oregon State University’s Dynamic Robotics Laboratory, Agility Robotics is headquartered in Salem, Oregon, with additional offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Fremont, California. Its expertise spans legged locomotion, robotic manipulation, physical artificial intelligence, industrial safety, fleet orchestration and humanoid-robot manufacturing.
